Project Description

This five-leg, multi-lane roundabout in Balch Springs, Texas is the first modern roundabout in Dallas County. The roundabout lies at the intersection of Belt Line Road, Pioneer Road and Eastgate Drive.

Ourston was contracted to provide expert peer review services to Dallas County Public Works. Our involvement included refining the overall design - especially with regard to channelizing and widening the entries - and adjusting the signage scheme to more clearly guide drivers through the roundabout.

As this roundabout was the first in the area, a comprehensive public education campaign was vital to the success of the project. Ourston played a key role all public involvement aspects. We designed and produced “how to” brochures and a flash animation, and presented at public meetings with visual aids and a scaled roll plot of the roundabout.

Mark Lenter’s involvement was featured in the Dallas County Public Works newsletter.
