This manual, now available from amazon.com, brings to one document the advice contained in the four U.K. documents that Ourston Roundabout Engineering, Inc. used in its design of high-capacity roundabouts, those with entries of three or four lanes.

The manual is published by permission of the Controller of Her Majesty's Stationery Office. It is the only North American design manual that illustrates how to design the full range of roundabouts: high-capacity roundabouts, with flared entries up to four lanes wide; modern roundabout interchanges; mini-roundabouts; and roundabouts that slow traffic where high-speed highways intersect. It is illustrated with 41 figures, including nine illustrations of how to measure entry deflection under various conditions and nine illustrations of how to achieve ample sight distance. The manual presents the deep experience of the United Kingdom, where the world's first yield-at-entry roundabouts launched the worldwide Roundabout Revolution in 1956. It incorporates the findings of British highway science that correlates both capacity and safety with roundabout geometric parameters.
