Ourston Roundabout Engineering, Inc.
is North America’s pre-eminent
roundabout design team. We have designed safe, high-capacity roundabouts
in demanding locations since 1984. We collaborate with other
professionals, including Barry Crown of the United Kingdom, to design
roundabouts to relieve traffic congestion, achieve high capacity,
increase
safety, slow high-speed roads, and upgrade freeway-to-street interchanges.
We led the Roundabout Revolution in the U.S. with several design
accomplishments:
-
The first
two modern roundabouts (Las Vegas, Nevada, 1990).
-
Maryland's
first roundabouts (Lisbon and Gaithersburg, 1993).
-
The first
three roundabout interchanges (Vail and Avon, Colorado, 1995 and 1997).
-
America's
first string of roundabouts to eliminate congestion (Avon, Colorado,
1997).
We helped
the states of California, Florida, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, and
Wisconsin begin their roundabout programs. We have also written several
articles on roundabouts, produced four roundabout videos, and wrote the
design manual Roundabout
Design Guidelines.
In Canada we are known as
